‘Khakis Soundbooth’는 이러한 생각의 일환으로, 우리와 교류하는 아티스트를 소개하고 함께 음악을 감상하는 프로그램입니다.
이를 통해 카키스는 사람들과 새로운 음악적 영감을 나누고자 합니다.

As part of this philosophy, Khakis has launched a program called ‘Khakis Soundbooth,’ which introduces artists who interact with us and allows people to enjoy music together. Through this initiative, Khakis seeks to share new musical inspirations with its audience.

2024년 6월 29일, 연희동에서 시작한 첫 번째 ‘Khakis Soundbooth’에 3명의 바이닐 스페셜리스트들이 함께했습니다.
웰컴 레코즈를 운영하는 DJ 앤도우와 섬원, 이태원 레코드 바 ‘리저브’의 오너 nsw nsw가 레코드라는 공통 관심사 아래 모여 음악을 선보였습니다.

웰컴 레코즈는 80년대를 상징하는 클래식한 R&B와 소울 사운드가 돋보이는「Mr. Telephone Man」과「Back in the Day」부터 덥스텝과 UK 개러지 씬에서 주목받는 Walter’s Call의「Summer Fruits」까지, 70년대부터 시작해 힙합 역사를 횡단하는 곡을 다수 선보였습니다. 그 뒤를 이어 nsw nsw는 10년 넘게 쌓아온 바이닐 수집 경험과 음악적 이해를 바탕으로 또 다른 흐름을 이어 나갔습니다. 그는 프랑스의 재즈 펑크 밴드 Cortex의 데뷔 앨범 [troupeau bleu]의 9번째 트랙「Huit octobre 1971」과 3번째 트랙「L’enfant samba」으로 셋 리스트의 시작과 끝을 연결하며 공간에 일체감을 더했습니다. 이처럼 세 명의 DJ들은 특별한 감상을 선사하는 트랙들로 공간을 가득 채웠습니다.

The first ‘Khakis Soundbooth’ took place on June 29, 2024, in Yeonhui-dong, featuring three vinyl specialists.
DJ Andow and Someonekim, who run Welcome Records, and nsw nsw, the owner of the Itaewon record bar ‘Reserve,’ came together to present music under their shared passion for records.

Welcome Records showcased a wide range of tracks, traversing the history of hip-hop, starting from the 70s. Their selections included classics like 「Mr. Telephone Man」 and 「Back in the Day」 which highlight the iconic R&B and soul sounds of the 80s, as well as more contemporary tracks like Walter’s Call’s 「Summer Fruits」 which has gained attention in the Dubstep and UK garage scenes. Following this, nsw nsw continued the flow, drawing on over a decade of vinyl collecting experience and deep musical understanding. He enhanced the atmosphere by linking the beginning and end of his setlist with tracks like 「Huit octobre 1971」 and 「L’enfant samba」 from the debut album [troupeau bleu] by the French jazz-funk band Cortex. The three DJs filled the space with tracks that offered a special listening experience.

이번 사운드부스에는 특별히 독일의 오디오 브랜드 엘락(ELAC)과 미국 뉴욕의 패션 레이블 에드섬(Adsum)이 협업한 스피커가 함께했습니다. 에드섬의 아트 디렉터 Christian Richard Rice가 엘락의 DCB41 원형 모델을 재해석하여 내놓은 스피커로, 방문객들에게 큰 반응을 얻으며 몰입감 넘치는 감상 경험을 선사하는데 일조했습니다.

앞으로도 카키스 사운드부스는 새로운 영감을 제시하며 다양한 음악적 교류를 제공하는 공간으로서의 역할을 해 나갈 것입니다.

This Soundbooth event also featured a special collaboration with the German audio brand ELAC and the New York fashion label Adsum. The speakers, which were a reinterpretation of ELAC’s DCB41 circular model by Adsum’s art director, Christian Richard Rice, garnered a great response from visitors, contributing to an immersive listening experience.

Moving forward, Khakis Soundbooth will continue to serve as a space that provides diverse musical exchanges and new inspirations.
